Distributed Systems Laboratory

Distributed systems laboratory (214, C2 building) is located in newly opened spacious seminar room equipped with 16 SUN Ray terminals. The software installed at the laboratory server allows practical exercising of J2EE, JMX, JXTA, portal technologies etc. It is comfortably furnished for leading both seminar meetings and practical work with computers. Courses that take place here: distributed systems, implementation environments of network services, but soon also software engineering of distributed systems.

The laboratory has just been fitted with the SUN Blade Platform equipment:
- SUN Fire V880 - complementary system for data center environments, the Sun Fire V880 server excels in supporting an extensive array of applications, including Internet and database, e-commerce, and ERP software. This rack-mountable, deskside unit combines an advanced set of reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS) features and supports two-to-eight processors, an integrated Fibre Channel disk subsystem, and a maximum of 64 GB of main memory for exceptional performance.

- The Sun Fire B100x Blade Server is a part of the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Platform. It is hosted in the Sun Fire B1600 Blade System Chassis (a 16 slot, 3U intelligent shelf) and finally will consist of 48 devices. The Sun Fire B1600 Blade System Chassis offers an integrated, Gigabit Ethernet switch fabric, optionally-redundant components, and five times the server density of typical one processor 1U servers.

- The SUN Fire V120 server is the next generation of the Netra T1 AC200 server. The Sun Fire V120 server features a 650 MHz UltraSPARC IIi processor, 512 KB of Level 2 cache, support for up to 4 GB of memory, and up to two 73 GB hard drives.

- The SUN Fire V240 server is built upon the SPARC and Solaris architecture. It is a dual-processor-capable, rack-optimized server designed for high availability.

- SUN StorEdge 3500 The Sun StorEdge 3510 FC array provides a compact, affordable, expandable storage solution that's simple to deploy and easy to manage. Designed to support growing storage requirements, the high-density array scales to meet your business needs, and its building-block approach reduces costs and simplifies future upgrades to entry-level SANs.

• Additional equipment:
- The Sun Fire B10n Content Load Balancing Blade enables to seamlessly integrate enhanced data processing and resource utilization capabilities into the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Platform. Designed specifically to optimize traffic management, the custom hardware specialty blade can help you achieve higher service levels by providing content load balancing based on URLs, CGI scripts, and cookies, and server load balancing based on server loads, response times, and weighted round-robin algorithms.
- The SUN Fire B10p SSL Proxy Blade enables you to seamlessly integrate SSL acceleration capabilities into the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Platform. Designed specifically to optimize SSL processing, the custom hardware specialty blade can process SSL transactions up to tens of times faster than CPU-based SSL processing.
